Medical Uses For Bananas

Never, put your banana in the refrigerator!!! This is interesting.

After reading this, you'll never look at a banana in the same way again.

Bananas contain three natural sugars - sucrose, fructose and glucose combined with fiber.
A banana gives an instant, sustained and substantial boost of energy.

Research has proven that just two bananas provide enough energy for a strenuous 90-minute workout.
No wonder the banana is the number one fruit with the world's leading athletes.

But energy isn't the only way a banana can help us keep fit.
It can also help overcome or prevent a substantial number of illnesses and conditions, making it a must to add to our daily diet.

Depression:
According to a recent survey undertaken by MIND amongst people suffering from depression, many felt much better after eating a banana.
This is because bananas contain tryptophan, a type of protein that the body converts into serotonin, known to make you relax, improve your mood and generally make you feel happier.

PMS:
Forget the pills - eat a banana.
The vitamin B6 it contains regulates blood glucose levels, which can affect your mood.
Anemia:
High in iron, bananas can stimulate the production of hemoglobin in the blood and so helps in cases of anemia.
Blood Pressure:
This unique tropical fruit is extremely high in potassium yet low in salt, making it perfect to beat blood pressure.
So much so, the US Food and Drug Administration has just allowed the banana industry to make official claims for the fruit's ability to reduce the risk of blood pressure and stroke.

Brain Power:
200 students at a Twickenham (Middlesex) school were helped through their exams this year by eating bananas at breakfast, break, and lunch in a bid to boost their brain power.
Research has shown that the potassium-packed fruit can assist learning by making pupils more alert.

Constipation:
High in fiber, including bananas in the diet can help restore normal bowel action, helping to overcome the problem without resorting to laxatives.

Hangovers:
One of the quickest
ways of curing a hangover is to make a banana milkshake, sweetened with honey.
The banana calms the stomach and, with the help of the honey, builds up depleted blood sugar levels, while the milk soothes and re-hydrates your system.
Heartburn:
Bananas have a natural antacid effect in the body, so if you suffer from heartburn, try eating a banana for soothing relief.

Morning Sickness:
Snacking on bananas between meals helps to keep blood sugar levels up and avoid morning sickness.
Mosquito bites:
Before reaching for the insect bite cream, try rubbing the affected area with the inside of a banana skin.
Many people find it amazingly successful at reducing swelling and irritation.
Nerves:
Bananas are high in B vitamins that help calm the nervous system.
Overweight:
Studies at the Institute of Psychology in Austria found pressure at work leads to gorging on comfort food like chocolate and crisps.
Looking at 5,000 hospital patients, researchers found the most obese were more likely to be in high-pressure jobs.
The report concluded that, to avoid panic-induced food cravings, we need to control our blood sugar levels by snacking on high carbohydrate foods every two hours to keep levels steady.
Ulcers:
The banana is used as the dietary food against intestinal disorders because of its soft texture and smoothness.
It is the only raw fruit that can be eaten without distress in over-chronicler cases.
It also neutralizes over-acidity and reduces irritation by coating the lining of the stomach.
Temperature control:
Many other cultures see bananas as a " cooling " fruit that can lower both the physical and emotional temperature of
expectant mothers.
In Thailand , for example, pregnant women eat bananas to ensure their baby is born with a cool temperature.

Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD):
Bananas can help SAD sufferers because they contain the natural mood enhancer tryptophan.
Smoking &Tobacco Use:
Bananas can also help people trying to give up smoking.
The B6, B12 they contain, as well as the potassium and magnesium found in them, help the body recover from the effects of nicotine withdrawal.
Stress:
Potassium is a vital mineral, which helps normalize the heartbeat, sends oxygen to the brain and regulates your body's water balance.
When we are stressed, our metabolic rate rises, thereby reducing our potassium levels.
These can be rebalanced with the help of a high-potassium banana snack.

Strokes:
According to research in The New England Journal of Medicine, eating bananas as part of a regular diet can cut the risk of death by strokes by as much as 40%!
Warts:
Those keen on natural alternatives swear that if you want to kill off a wart, take a piece of banana skin and place it on the wart, with the yellow side out. Carefully hold the skin in place with a plaster or surgical tape!
So, a banana really is a natural remedy for many ills.
When you compare it to an apple, it has four times the protein, twice the carbohydrate, three times the phosphorus, five times the vitamin A and iron, and twice the other vitamins and minerals.
It is also rich in potassium and is one of the best value foods around.
So maybe its time to change that well-known phrase so that we say,
" A banana a day keeps the doctor away! "

PS: Bananas must be the reason monkeys are so happy all the time!
I will add one here; want a quick shine on our shoes??
Take the INSIDE of the banana skin, and rub directly on the shoe ... polish with dry cloth.
Amazing fruit !!

Life's SideNotes

An 80 year old man was sitting on the sofa in his house along with his 45 years old highly educated son. Suddenly a crow perched on their window.

The Father asked his Son, "What is this?" The Son replied "It is a crow".

After a few minutes, the Father asked his Son the 2nd time, "What is this?"

The Son said "Father, I have just now told you "It's a crow".

After a little while, the old Father again asked his Son the 3rd time, What is this?"

At this time some ex-pression of irritation was felt in the Son's tone when he said to his Father with a rebuff. "It's a crow, a crow".

A little after, the Father again asked his Son t he 4th time, "What is this?"

This time the Son shouted at his Father, "Why do you keep asking me the same question again and again, although I have told you so many times 'IT IS A CROW'. Are you not able to understand this?"

A little later the Father went to his room and came back with an old tattered diary, which he had maintained since his Son was born. On opening a page, he asked his Son to read that page. When the son read it, the following words were written in the diary :-

"Today my little son aged three was sitting with me on the sofa, when a crow was sitting on the window. My Son asked me 23 times what it was, and I replied to him all 23 times that it was a Crow. I hugged him lovingly each time he asked me the same question again and again for 23 times. I did not at all feel irritated I rather felt affection for my innocent child".

While the little child asked him 23 times "What is this", the Father had felt no irritation in replying to the same question all 23 times and when today the Father asked his Son the same question just 4 times, the Son felt irritated and annoyed.

So.... If your parents attain old age, do not repulse them or look at them as a burden, but speak to them a gracious word, be cool, obedient, humble and kind to them. Be considerate to your parents.

From today say this aloud:

"I want to see my parents happy forever. They have cared for me ever since I was a little child. They have always showered their selfless love on me.
They crossed all mountains and valleys without seeing the storm and heat to make me a person presentable in the society today".

Tree Man

Shocking video of a Man whose body grows root.!!!

This is a video of an Indonesian Man named Dede 35, whose body began to grow warty "roots" which started growing out of his arms and feet after he cut his knee in a teenage accident.

The welts spread across his body unchecked and soon he was left unable to carry out everyday household tasks.

Sacked from his job and deserted by his wife, Dede has been raising his two children - now in their late teens - in poverty, resigned to the fact that local doctors had no cure for his condition.

To make ends meet he even joined a local "freak show", parading in front of a paying audience alongside victims of other peculiar diseases.

Tree man 'who grew roots' may be cured:

Richard Dawkins Stumped By Creationists' Question

Richard Dawkins is dumbfounded after being asked to "give an example of a genetic mutation or an evolutionary process which can be seen to increase the information in the genome" - quite a reasonable question that one would expect Oxford University's Professor for the Public Understanding of Science - so adamant in his belief in evolution - could and would provide an answer for.

He then responds but DOES NOT answer the question that was asked of him. Why? Because he has no idea when it comes to processes that add information to the genome - the very premise of what he proclaims!! His writings claiming that he was not stumped are a desperate endeavour to cover his cowardly tracks (and on a further note, his writings don't cover any of these "information adding" processes either).

Don't be as "ignorant" as creationists allegedly are - delve a little deeper and you will be surprised at what you'll find.

Note: The reasons for posting this video is not to disprove evolution or to prove creation - but merely to show that this man who is at the forefront of the modern-day evolutionist movement does not have an answer for the most fundamental question to what he proclaims. There are actually three processes [at the time of writing] that scientists know of that add information to the genome - none of which Dawkins covers in any of his responses - websites, books or otherwise. Importance Of Having Breakfast

Breakfast can help prevent strokes, heart attack and sudden death.
Advice on not to skip breakfast!

Healthy living
For those who always skip breakfast, you should stop that habit now! You've heard many times that "Breakfast is the most important meal of the day." Now, recent research confirms that one of the worst practices you can develop may be avoiding breakfast.

Why?

Because the frequency of heart attack, sudden death, and stroke peaks between 6: 00a.m. and noon, with the highest incidence being
between 8: 00a.m. and 10:00a.m.What mechanism within the body could account for this significant jump in sudden death in the early
morning hours?
We may have an Answer.

Platelet, tiny elements in the blood that keep us from bleeding to Death if we get a cut, can clump together inside our arteries due to
cholesterol or laque buildup in the artery lining. It is in the morning hours that platelets become the most activated and tend to form these internal blood clots at the greatest frequency.

Eating even a very light breakfast prevents the morning platelet activation that is associated with heart attacks and strokes. Studies performed at Memorial University in St.Johns, Newfoundland found that eating a light, very low-fat breakfast was critical in modifying the morning platelet activation. Subjects in the study consumed either low-fat or fat-free yogurt, orange juice, fruit, and a source of protein coming from yogurt or fat-free milk.

If you skip breakfast, it's important that you change this practice immediately in light of this research. Develop a simple plan to eat cereal, such as oatmeal or Bran Flakes, along with six ounces of grape juice or orange juice, and perhaps a piece of fruit. This simple plan will keep your platelets from sticking together, keep blood clots from forming, and perhaps head off a potential Heart Attack or stroke. So never ever skip breakfast

Coconut Water

Coconut Water is naturally:
  • Low in Carbs
  • 99% Fat Free
  • Low in sugars
Coconut Water contains organic compounds possessing healthy growth promoting properties that have been known to help:
Keep the body cool and at the proper temperature
Orally re-hydrate your body, it is an all natural isotonic beverage
Carry nutrients and oxygen to cells
Naturally replenish your body's fluids after exercising
Raise your metabolism
Promote weight loss
Boost your immune system
Detoxify and fight viruses
Cleanse your digestive tract
Control diabetes
Aid your body in fighting viruses that cause the flu, herpes, and AIDS
Balance your PH and reduce risk of cancer
Treat kidney and urethral stones
Boost poor circulation

The coconut is one of the greatest gifts of this planet.
Coconuts are a prehistoric plant which can survive many months floating at sea.
The coconut is a natural water filter that takes almost 9 months to filter each liter of water. The water travels through many fibers being purified where it is stored away STERILE in the nut itself.

This coconut water is pure clear and is one of the highest sources of electrolytes known to man. Coconut water is identical to human blood plasma which makes it the universal donor. Plasma makes up 55% of human blood. By drinking coconuts we give ourselves a instant blood transfusion.

Many peoples lives have been saved in 3rd world countries by the coconut.
Coconuts in their young stage of growth are the most health enhancing.
Drink at least one a day (I drink 5 or 6). Coconuts are a great blood purifier.

Other comments on Young Coconuts:
"It's a natural isotonic beverage, with the same level of
electrolytic balance as we have in our blood. It's the fluid of
life, so to speak."

In fact, during the Pacific War of 1941-45,
both sides in the conflict regularly used coconut water - siphoned
directly from the nut - to give emergency plasma trasfusions to
wounded soldiers.

Most coconut water is still consumed fresh in tropical coastal
areas - once exposed to air, the liquid rapidly loses most of its
organoleptic and nutritional characteristics, and begins to ferment.

Limits Of Human Understanding?

Richard Dawkins on the strangeness of science
(Recorded July 2005 in Oxford, UK)

Mind-expanding talk that probes the limits of human understanding:

Why can't we see atoms?
Why can't we hear color?
How can we understand randomness?

Dawkins suggests that the true nature of the universe eludes us because the human mind has evolved mainly to understand other humans -- and to look for human motives even in natural processes. Thus, we create a humanlike God to explain phenomena we can't otherwise comprehend; right or wrong, we're simply wired for it.

Dawkins is Oxford's Professor for the Public Understanding of Science, and the author of the landmark 1976 book The Selfish Gene and the 2006 bestseller The God Delusion.

BINDEEZ CRAFT

Amazing Craft Toy.
Place the beads in a tray and spray with water and they will magically stick together.

"Date-Rape Drug in Bead Toy":

THE Australian toy of the year, Bindeez, has been withdrawn after a warning that the date-rape drug GHB may have been "deliberately" put into the product.

Two children - 10 and two - were admitted to The Children's Hospital, Westmead this month and another was treated in Queensland after swallowing the Bindeez beads.

Tests have revealed the tiny beads contain the chemical 1,4-Butanediol, which when ingested turns into liquid fantasy, also known as GHB.

An investigation has been launched into how the dangerous chemical, an adhesive, ended up in the toy but some experts believe it was deliberately swapped for one of the listed ingredients.

Bindeez are made in Hong Kong and imported through Melbourne company Moose Enterprises.

The bead crafting kits won the title of Most Popular Toy in March.

The company, which was unavailable for comment, has been forced to withdraw the toy and faces millions of dollars in losses.

The beads contain a non-toxic glue which, when sprayed with water, stick together to form shapes.

Authorities became concerned when Charlotte Lehane, 10, was the second child in a week needing hospitalisation after swallowing the beads.

Her mother Heather Lehane, of Castle Hill, said that within an hour of her daughter eating the coloured balls, she became unconscious.

"It was terrifying. I couldn't wake her and then she just started vomiting this thick glue-like substance and all these Bindeez," Mrs Lehane said. "She had wanted them for her birthday ... they are very popular."

Fair Trading Minister Linda Burney ordered the immediate removal of the toy from shops.

University of NSW toxicologist Chris Wynder said the chemical was most likely put into the toy.

"There's a possibility there's been some malice," Professor Wynder said. "Maybe the glue they use was too expensive, or wasn't available."

"Big Recall of China Bead Toys After 'Date Rape' Drug Found ":

DEADLY: The chemical coating can induce seizures or coma if ingested.

WASHINGTON - THERE has been another massive global recall of Chinese-made toys, just weeks from the busy Christmas shopping season.
Millions of the 'bead-based' toys have been pulled from shelves in North America, Australia, Hong Kong, Malaysia and Singapore after scientists found they contained a chemical that converts into a powerful 'date rape' drug when ingested.

Two children in the United States and three in Australia were hospitalised after swallowing the beads.

The toys are called Bindeez in Australia, where they were named toy of the year at an industry function this year. In the United States, the toy goes by the name Aqua Dots, a highly popular holiday toy distributed by Toronto-based Spin Master Toys. Both are sold by Australia-based Moose Enterprises.

Moose Enterprises said Bindeez and Aqua Dots are made at the same factorylocated in Shenzhen in China's southern Guangdong province. The company said the product is distributed in 40 countries but that it was up to the individual countries and distributors to determine if the product would be pulled.

The toy beads are sold for use in arts and crafts projects. They can be arranged into designs and fused together when sprayed with water.

Scientists say a chemical coating on the beads, when ingested, becomes the so-called 'date rape' drug gamma hydroxy butyrate (GHB). When eaten, the compound can induce unconsciousness, seizures, drowsiness, coma and cause death.

Dr Naren Gunja from Australia's Poisons Information Centre said the drug's effect on children was 'quite serious and potentially life-threatening'.

The recall was announced by the US Consumer Product Safety Commission, several hours after reports were published in the US about the recall in Australia.

The news jolted the toy industry because Aqua Dots has been one of the few bright stars of the toy-selling season which, along with overall retailing, got off to a sluggish start in the US Christmas season. Toy sellers are cancelling advertising and scrambling to figure out how to replace the product.

Lakshmi

BANGALORE - Toddler born with eight limbs, 4 arms and 4 legs, undergone life-saving operation. The extraordinary eight-limbed baby was born in a tiny village in Arhariya in the central Indian state of Bihar - said to be on the day devoted to the celebration of the four-armed Hindu deity Vishnu.

The toddler born with eight limbs and believed by some to be the
reincarnation of the multi-limbed Hindu goddess Vishnu,
undergo a 40-hour operation to remove half of her limbs.

The girl is joined to a 'parasitic twin' who stopped developing in
the mother's womb, while the surviving foetus absorbed the limbs,
kidneys and other body parts of the undeveloped foetus. The
headless 'twin' is joined to Lakshmi at the pelvis and has its own
spinal column and kidney.

An X-ray picture shows how the two

bodies are joined at the pelvis

Lakshmi Tatma had gone under the operationss at the hands of 30
surgeons to remove two of her useless arms and legs.
Without the operation the little girl would never be able to walk
or crawl and would be unlikely to live past her early teens.
Dr Sharan Patil, who will be leading the surgery at the country's
Narayana Health City, in Bangalore, said: "Fortunately, Lakshmi
has one complete body with a near perfect set of organs.

"Her skeletal system involves two bodies which are fused together
at the level of the pelvis. The operation itself, although presents several challenges, is
not the most complex in the world. What is highly unusual in Lakshmi's case is precisely how her bodies are fused, almost mirroring each other."

Parents Poonam Devi and Shambu Das, who earn about 50p a day as
casual labourers, were turned away from several hospitals before
her plight was taken up by Dr Patil.

Poonam, who gave birth to Lakshmi on the celebration day of the
four-armed Hindu goddess of wealth and prosperity after whom the
new born was named, said: "She is a miracle, a special blessing
from God."

The operation is expected to cost more thant US$100,000.
Surgeons have successfully removed the extra limbs from the
two-year-old girl in a gruelling operation that lasted more than a day

In a preview of his next book, Steven Pinker takes on violence. We live in violent times, an era of heightened warfare, genocide and senseless crime. Or so we've come to believe. Pinker charts a history of violence from Biblical times through the present, and says modern society has a little less to feel guilty about.

Nibiru - Our Ancient History?

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nibiru

Nibiru, was the celestial body associated with the god Marduk to the

Babylonians. The name is Akkadian and means 'crossing place' or 'place of

transition'. In Babylonian texts, it is identified with the planet Jupiter.

In Tablet 5 of the Enuma Elish it may be the pole star, which at the time

was Thuban or possibly Kochab (Ursa Minor).

The term "Nibiru" comes from the Sumerian cuneiform tablets and writings

dating 5,000 years old. The term Nibiru means "Planet of the crossing", and

it's cuneiform sign was often a cross, or various winged disc. The Sumerian

culture was located in the fertile lands between the Euphrates and Tigris

rivers, at the southern part of today's Iraq.

A Secular, Scientific Rebuttal To Pastor Rick Warren

..... by Dan Dennett:

A direct rebuttal to Pastor Rick Warren, author of The Purpose-Driven Life, Tufts philosophy professor Dan Dennet presents the idea of religion as a natural phenomenon -- one that has evolved over millennia to meet humanity's changing needs. While acknowledging that this idea stirs up anxiety, Dennett asserts the importance of studying religions rigorously, even proposing that children be required to study world religions along with reading and math. Dennett, who followed Warren on stage at TED2006, goes on to criticize The Purpose-Driven Life for several claims -- among them a belief that in order to be moral, one must deny evolution..........

The "$100 Laptops" Now $200

A mini laptop was developed for the world's poor children,
dubbed 'the $100 laptop,' has reached another stage:
It is now officially on sale via the One Laptop per
Child Foundation's Web site, with production cost
now totaling $200.

The One Laptop per Child Foundation, founded by Massachusetts Institute of Technology Professor Nicholas Negroponte, has started offering the lime-green-and-white laptops in lots of 10,000 or more for $200 apiece on its Web site.

The price increase is because of rising costs of certain components and currency fluctuations, but
costs should go down as production of the laptops begins soon in China. Lack of pre-orders
may have contributed to the $200 price tag, as only Uruguay, Peru and Mongolia have agreed to buy them.

"The tree is a species of the African Mahogany and is planted to provide shade, particularly in parks and along major roads and expressways. It is a hardy tree that grows well under most soil conditions........The tree was involved in several minor accidents over the years. The uneven bark surface at the base of the tree trunk is the result of callusing, a natural reaction in which the tree grows new bark over injured areas."

A380 Airbus Crosswind Landing Flight Test

During Airbus A380 crosswind landing certification tests in Keflavik with 40 to 50 knot crosswinds. Technique is to fly crabbed down to flare height then "kick" (gently) the rudder to align the nose. Some crab at touchdown is acceptable and will be cancelled as the main gear also align the bird with the runway.

Sounds easy dosn't it? Notice the flight control laws only allow the lower rudder until the aircraft is on the ground, then both upper and lower rudders are controlled by the autopilot during AutoLand operations or by the rudder pedals. This logic helps prevent unwanted roll from the upper rudder due to its placement being so far away from the longitudinal axis of the aircraft.

The Power of One Life

This video lesson was shot on location in Kursi on the Sea of Galilee.

The demon possessed man in Mark 5 saw Jesus and fell down before Him.
He had come face to face with God.

Jesus tells the man to go and spread the good news. Jesus was rejected by the people of the region, but in Mark 7:31 Jesus comes back to the region across the Sea of Galilee, and the response of the people was completely different. Multitudes of people came to see Him. The only thing that had changed since Christ had last been there is the one life that Jesus had touched.

People remembered the demon possessed man. His new life and testimony made those around him want to know Jesus too. Does your life cause the people in your world to want to meet Jesus?

The most powerful thing you have is your testimony--you have been cleansed and forgiven and saved.

Maori Warrior's Mummified Head

French tug-of-war over Maori warrior's head

A French court has reportedly vetoed efforts to return a mummified head of an indigenous Maori warrior to New Zealand's national museum.

The head is reportedly in the possession of a museum in the western city of Rouen, the mayor of which has decided to return the artifact to New Zealand. The head was given by a French collector to the museum in 1875.

The mummified tattoted head has been part of the permanent collection of the Museum of Natural History at Rouen in Normandy.

When Rouen's mayor arranged recently to return it to New Zealand as an act of "atonement" for colonial-era trafficking in human remains, the French court did not allow the return after the government argued it was a part of French heritage.

The Maori Party in New Zealand is also seeking action to recover the mummified Maori head.

The Maoris traditionaly preserved the tattooed heads of warriors killed in battle to keep
their memory alive. During the 19th century, the preserved heads of warriors with facial tattoos were popular with European collectors, as contact with the outsiders increased. The trade was later outlawed.

The municipal council of the French city of Rouen said it was hopeful that the preserved
Maori head can be returned soon to New Zealand, despite a legal ruling blocking the move.

Journey To The Center Of Your Mind

In a wide-ranging talk, Vilayanur Ramachandran explores how brain damage can reveal the connection between the internal structures of the brain and the corresponding
functions of the mind. He talks about phantom limb pain, synesthesia
(when people hear color or smell sounds), and the Capgras delusion,
when brain-damaged people believe their closest friends and family have
been replaced with imposters.

Indeed, a model lecture... engaging, clear, structured and beautifully paced. "

Robots That Are "Self-Aware"

Hod Lipson demonstrates a few of his cool little robots, which have the ability to learn, understand themselves and even self-replicate. At the root of this uncanny demo is a deep inquiry into the nature of how humans and living beings learn and evolve, and how we might harness these processes to make things that learn and evolve.
